She says, “Don’t Forget”

As I was tripping around the blogosphere this morning, I made my way to Karen Edmiston’s blog.  While reading through the posts on the first page, I came to THIS ONE.

Karen is talking about our need, as mothers, to make sure that we are prepared for Christmas.  She says,

God wants not only for our children to be prepared but for us mothers to be ready, too.”

I really needed to read this entry as I have found myself, without realizing or meaning to, focusing so much on things to do with the children that I have forgotten that I have a need to prepare, too.   God wants me prepared,  not just my kids.  I’m going to fix that!

How about you?  Are you forgetting yourself this Advent?  Are you thinking of ways to remedy it?  It doesn’t have to be either the kids or us.  God wants it to be the kids AND us.  He will make it happen if we put in our effort and will.  We know we want God to bless our Advent.  The Lord wants to bless our Advent. Let’s give him something to bless!  As Karen says, it doesn’t have to be monumental in order to be valuable and efficacious.

Karen goes on to give a few ideas for things we can do to make Advent all it is meant to be not only for our children, but for ourselves.  Her entire “No-Panic” Advent Series has loads of great ideas for Advent.  If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s definitely worth a look.

Karen is absolutely right:  Don’t Forget!

  1. Hi, and thanks for the very kind words! May God bless you and your family, and your Advent preparations. And, I just have to add that your knitting is great — I’m still a “wannabe” who hasn’t moved much past scarves. Many scarves. 🙂

  2. Just dive deeper into the knitting, Karen! I’d say you won’t regret it, but you might. Obsessions can be hard to live with (for those who live with you, anyway!)

Thanks for all the great entries this Advent! God bless you and yours.
