Happy St Nicholas Day!

We love St Nicholas Day here.  What a terrific Saint for our kids to look to for example.  Getting your shoes filled doesn’t hurt, either!

You can make your own St Nick from Lindt chocolate santas by using the pattern from St Nicholas Center.  Very easy, very fun.

Today we will be reading Saint Nicholas: The Real Story of the Christmas Legend.  I “adapt” the reading a bit and call Saint Nicholas Father or Bishop Nicholas as he was called.  No one called him “pastor.”   It’s really a nice book, but that kinda bugs me.  Okay, it bugs me more than kinda.  But it’s still worth reading the book because it’s well done otherwise.

Hoping you’re having a wonderful Advent!

St. Nick was very generous to you all! Happy Feast of St. Nick Day!

  2. Happy St. Nicholas’ Day! I will have to check out that book!
Today, we learned about Roman rule during Jesus’ time. I am LOVING this “Story of Christmas” Advent Activity Calendar.

    • I particularly love CCC’s “Nicholas, The Boy Who Became Santa” video because, of course, they cover his early life, stories of his generosity for which he is so well known and his long imprisonment under Diocletian. I love that they cover so much.

My girls found a VeggieTales version of St Nick on Netflix (instant via Wii) that I plan to check out. If they did a good job, then we’ll add that, too!

Mary, I’m so, so glad that your “treasure found” is turning out to be so terrific for your family.

Thanks for sharing your tips. I’m not so good at making this feast day as fun as it could be. It is still early in the day, you’ve inspired me to make it a bit more special.

It looks like you had a lovely chocolatey St Nicks.
I really love the St Nicholas Centre website. Someone has put a lot of work and love into that site.
    Have a good Advent 🙂
