consider yourself warned right up front… this is nothing but rambling.

This morning after I dropped the girls off, TheBoy and I stopped by wallyworld to pick up some school supplies for a friend and to round out my own collection of supplies.

And to buy spoons.  Lots of spoons.  Teaspoons.  I don’t know what the heck happens in our house.  Teaspoons disappear.

When SoldierBoy moved out, I had hoped that it would end.

When CarKiller moved out, I hoped that NOW it would end.

It hasn’t ended.

Like I said, I don’t know why they end up missing, but things like that tend to happen here.  You know, “things” like finding weird stuff in the fridge or gum stuck on a bookcase.

plastic spoons in the cheese drawer?

gum on the bookcase?!

I was down to one or two teaspoons, except for my coffee spoons.  I have some spoons from an old set that are “FOR MOM’S COFFEE ONLY.”  People around here were violating that rule.  I had to buy spoons before somebody got hurt or I blew a gasket or something.  So, at fifty cents each, I got some plain spoons.  Eighteen spoons to be exact.  I wonder how long they’ll last?  I’m hoping a month.  Doubt it will be much longer.

It’s crunch time.  Again.  Two (maybe 3) weeks out from school and I’ve still got a load of lesson planning to do.  It’s really starting to stress me out.  I spoke to Chief about it last night and he’s ready to do (or put up with) whatever is necessary for me to get these done.

Monday through Wednesday mornings this week, the girls still have rehearsal, so I won’t get to work on them until the afternoon.  Thursday and Friday this week are performance days so they will be here during the day and go in in the evening so I’ll work on them early on those days.  Saturday Chief is home, so he can help with TheBoy and all of the things that will be neglected while I spread out and put it all down.  Sunday… well, let’s just say I’ll be needing a day of rest!

Next Monday morning there is an audition for the Missoula Children’s Theater workshop performance of “Jack and the Beanstalk” and that will take up many hours if they get parts.  During these productions, they audition and cast on Monday and perform on the very next Saturday, so rehearsals are intense.  If they all get parts, I don’t know if I’ll get anything done next week.  I suppose there is the evening, but quite honestly, I’m shot by the time evening rolls around (and will likely be more shot if I’m running back and forth to the theater all day) but I may have to do it then anyway and hope I don’t make a mess of it!

Pray for me!

Yep…we have the disappearing spoon thing here too. I thought it was just us. I guess I’m sort of glad it’s not just us. Miss you. Karen +AMDG+

    I love the rambling!
Well, before we moved to HI, I bought a new set of silverware. The box has twelve extra spoons and twelve extra forks. I didn’t ask why, I know why! Dessert forks disappear as quickly as the teaspoons in my place. I think they get put in the rubbish bin. On accident, but still! So, I buy the box. I take out twelve of the teaspoons for immediate use. Why? My good set of Barton and Reed (or Reed and Barton -whatever) was dwindling down to an annoying “I have to wash the lone spoon in order to use it again at the next meal”. I actually wrote on the box that I removed twelve of the spoons (for the movers/accounting for myself). I have the box of silverware – minus the twelve I removed (that are collecting God knows what in a warehouse until next week when we will be reunited).

I think spoons come with retractable or invisible legs and they walk off when we least expect it.
