Okay, take 2.
This morning we actually made it to daily Mass! Yay! I was very pleasantly surprised that everything was coming together nicely and more surprised that LittleDood was excited to go to Mass! ” Awww,” thought I. It does my heart good to see that! And it’s not that he’s terrible about Mass. He’s really not. He goes without any fuss most times, but he is not usually excited! He was chattering up a storm about going to Mass and to see Jesus and to see Father. Wow!!!
We get to Mass in plenty of time, had a nice, peaceful Mass. LittleDood was great! He was still and quiet and just great!
After Mass, we stopped by the hairdresser’s to make an appointment and then ran into Walmart to pick up some recycling bins (well, there was one.) LittleDood was great in the store, too! It was such a smooth, peaceful, pleasant morning. We finished up our shopping and headed home.
As soon as we walked through the door, I came to realize exactly what LittleDood’s motivation for being on best behavior was. He looked up at me and said, “I can watch a show now?”
Oh! Poor LittleDood!!!!! We give up TV for Lent. We cover the television with a purple cloth to remind us. But Sundays remain a celebration of the Resurrection, so we take a break from the fast from television on Sundays. And he remembered watching TV after Mass on Sunday! Oy! So, I explained to him that we only do that on the days when there are A LOT of people at church, not on days when there are a few people. He took it fine and has been enjoying the beautiful weather today. He spent most of the day outside. And he’s fine without a show. But gosh it was sad to have to disappoint him! I think he handled it better than I did, though.
