Does anyone else remember feeling SURE that Gore would win in 2000? In spite of everything, he did not.
We can discuss the presidency of Bush for weeks on end, but he has acted in a prolife manner, which in my opinion (and many others, I know) is the most important and fundamental human rights issue that we face today.
Does anyone also remember that the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe were major steps (first the courts ruled in Bush’s favor, the second Gore conceded the election) in defeating Gore, who is not prolife, either (and we could further discuss what kind of president he might have been in other ways as well.)
I guess my point is that there was a feeling of certainty that Gore would win, which was a feeling of dread for many. But ultimately, Bush was sworn into office. It was not OUR victory, but Our Lady’s and Our Lord’s. It was a victory for life. This election belongs to Our Lady and Our Lord as well. May Our Lady never cease to intercede for us and may Our Lord have mercy on us all.
Keep waging the battle alongside Our Lord and Our Lady. Fight steadfastly on your knees
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on us!
O Mary, conceived without sin,
Pray for us who have recourse to thee!
