Lest You Be Deceived

Kerry Kennedy’s book, entitled Being Catholic Now is NOT a faithful representation of Catholicism.  Being Catholic now means the same thing it always has.  Don’t bother with the drivel in this book.

You see, you can’t believe abortion is good, right, okay or acceptable and be Catholic.  That is completely contrary to what it means to be Catholic.  You can’t espouse contraception, divorce and remarriage or unchastity of any type and be Catholic.  That is like sitting down to a 20 ounce T’Bone dinner and insisting “I am too a vegetarian.  The old way of being a vegetarian is outdated!”  No one has to be a vegetarian. You can eat meat all you like, but that means you are NOT a vegetarian!

Likewise with Catholicism! No one has to be a Catholic.  People are free to believe what they like.  Why on earth do they insist that they should be allowed to redefine Catholicism?  To be Catholic means to BE CATHOLIC.

What it means to be Catholic is well-defined.  Pick up the Catechism.  There it is.  If you truly don’t believe it, MOVE ON.  If you don’t understand it, research!  If you think it’s wrong, by all means, do what you can to discover what is right.  But do the rest of us a favor.  Stop attempting to undermine what it means to be Catholic.  Admit you don’t adhere to Catholicism and then go and embrace whatever you do adhere to.

….And know that we are praying for you.
