Good Bye, Yet Again… I Think

This morning, Chief was to be at the airport at 4:30 for a 5:30 flight.  Because of Ike, all flights out of our airport were cancelled.  They said the flights out of the next choice airport were cancelled as well, so Chief came home.  It was nice to have him home again, BUT we all dreaded having to say good bye AGAIN.  We were afraid that he would be here another week because the the cycle he had to participate in, dragging out the dreaded farewell.  I know, odd to complain that he might be here a week longer, but really, when you are working yourself and your kids up to deal with it, starting over is not appealing.

After he was home for a couple of hours (and sleeping I might add!) his boss called.  They were able to get him a flight out of that bigger city after all.  So, less than an hour after the phone call he was on his way again.  At least the company sent someone out to drive him so we didn’t have to.  I am not interested in driving TOWARD Ike.  Not that I like the idea for Chief or his coworker, either…

So, hopefully we are off of this roller coaster now and the deployment has begun.  This back and forth stuff is just too much.

Chief, I love you and I miss you already.  God be with you.  Thanks for being MY hero!
