When I Was a Kid…

My folks and grandparents used to ask if we were “growing potatoes in there?!” when we had dirty ears. I probably thought it was funny the first 365 times they said it and eventually I got old enough to think of it as “old.”

Well, I’m the parent now. And modern times call for updated questions!

Apparently, I am to ask my son, “What? Are ya growing lettuce in there?”

Yes, that is lettuce. I mean, what do you do after you eat a good dinner and have a little ice cream for a snack? Don’t YOU snatch the guinea pigs’ lettuce and stuff it in your ears?
