Recipes
Occasionally, I will share a favorite recipe here.
The first is a recipe for Vanille Kipferl, a yummy German cookie. I share it in honor of St. Boniface, on his feast day, 5 June.
Sorry, but the ingredients list is in the metric system. You can find ways to convert it if you Google. I just use a kitchen scale.
525 grams butter
750 grams flour
250 grams ground hazelnuts
250 grams sugar
3 egg yolks
Vanilla Sugar (you can buy packets of this where you find international/German foods, or you can put a cup or 2 of sugar into a container and throw in a couple of sticks of vanilla and let is sit for a week or two)
Make the above ingredients into a dough
form into little ropes and then make them into little crescent shapes
place on a cookies sheet and bake at about 350 degrees F (my MIL told me a “slow” oven, so 325 might work, too)
Bake until set and slightly browned on the edges.
Remove from oven, cool for a minute or 2 and roll in vanilla sugar. Optionally, you can roll them in the vanilla sugar again after they are cooled completely.
Enjoy!

Still waiting on the Mac and Cheese recipe for the boys.
