About Me
I am a:
middle-aged,
Catholic Homeschooling
Knitting-Addicted
Wife of one
Mother of Six(teen)
Happily living in Texas!
I’ve been married for 22 + years. My husband is a retired US Army Warrant Officer. We have lived in New Jersey, Munich, Germany, Arizona, Texas, Heidelberg, Germany, and now back in Texas. Our kids are
a son, born in 1985,
a son, born in 1987
a daughter, born in 1993,
a daughter, born in 1996
a daughter, born in 1998
a son, born in 2006
My husband and I have been called on by the Lord to bear the cross of pregnancy loss. We have lost 9 pregnancies and 10 babies through the years. We are not sure why we were chosen to help populate heaven, but God is faithful and we have come through this particular pain stronger and, we hope, better than if we’d not borne this cross.
Through the years, I have been a
- La Leche League leader (now retired. Anything I ever say about breastfeeding is my own thought and opinion and does not represent LLL in any way,)
- homebirther,
- a certified NFP instructor,
- precana presenter,
- RCIA presenter,
- RCIA sponsor,
- prayer group leader
- and “little daughter”
I seem to be perpetually behind in laundry, grading papers, and reading.
I hate shopping, unloading the dishwasher and folding laundry.
I love knitting, baking and reading.

Just wanted to let you know I love your blog. You have a way with words!!! Take Care!
Congratulations!
I liked very much your page. What attracted my attention in first place, was the name.
In spanish, “be what you are” can also be translated by “I know what you are” (”Familia, se lo que eres”
as verbs saber and ser are written and pronounced the same way in that case .
In my opinion, it makes a lot of sense, because John Paul II invited us to recognize our nature but also to teach us what families are, even if they seem to have forgoten it.
I´m also a father of a big and happy family and would like to invite you to visit our blog:

I am enjoying your spot here! I am also a homeschooling mom, I have 7 children and have also experienced the great loss of pre born children. We lost 1 at 13 weeks, 1 at 8 wks in 2005 and one at 9 weeks in 2007.
Our oldest is Tony and he is going to be 20, he is in the seminary for our diocese. Our youngest is 5 and he is the sweetest gift to the family.
I don’t knit, but I sew and quilt and do other crafts. We have the same print hanging in our dining room, the gal with the black hair who is in the center of the picture looks like our middle daughter! We loved the details, so many things to look at and the fact that all of them came knowing they would be welcomed. There is a warmth in the picture and the lighting on the faces of the kids makes me feel joyful!
I will definately look around here and take encouragement from another faith filled Catholic mom. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for coming by, Annette! It’s nice to “meet” you! How neat that you have the same print!
God bless!
