Reflections -31 May 2009.
PENTECOST! Happy Birthday, Church!!!!!
Plans for this week – Pick up glasses for MissKaboom (GuitarGirl got hers right away on Thurs., mine will take 2 weeks… the joys of deteriorating vision! bi-focals, etc.), file vision insurance claim, rehearsals…
I am wearing – comfy pants and a t-shirt
I am feeling – a bit weird! We went to Mass last night, so not having to get ready this morning is weird.
I am hearing – lots of LOUD birds.
I am thankful for – Merry getting a letter from her son who is also in basic training (2 weeks behind CarKiller)
I am wondering – if CarKiller will call today. I think he will.
I am contemplating – My next several knitting projects
In prayer – Matthew Karol, CarKiller, SoldierBoy, A.T., Fr. A, Amanda and her move, and more
The Family
Chief: Is still doing “busy work” at the old job. He is grateful to be employed, but hates the work he has to do. Can’t wait to hear about that job.
SoldierBoy: Still haven’t reached him. Trying again today.
CarKiller: We got several letters this week and are hoping for a phone call today.
GuitarGirl: Has almost daily rehearsals for All Shook Up. She did the call back and was cast in HSM2.
MissKaboom: Had a friend from theater spend the night last night. She, Miss Creativity and their friend had a great time from what I can tell.
MissCreativity: Is still making movies
LittleDood: Was so cute yesterday. There was a “pancake breakfast” fundraiser for the post-confirmation class . Applebee’s let them use their location. He’d been asking all week about going to the “Apple place” and when he woke up yesterday, the first thing out of his mouth was, “Apple place?”
The Homefires:
Kitchen – I’m thinking brisket sounds good today
In our my craft room: after a little mishap, the sleep sack is finished up to the point where I just need to weave in ends and add buttons
In our school: just trying to finish up
Lucky Room(s) of the week: nothing other than routine stuff planned
- Finished C.S. Lewis’ Space Trilogy. Loved it. Now what?
- The Rosary
- I have iTunes gift cards from MissKaboom and MissCreativity, so I think I”ll purchase Glenn Beck’s: An Inconvenient Book
and Pope Benedict XVI’s: Jesus of Nazareth
.
My Reading -
Still reading:
- The Fulfillment of All Desire
- This is a fantastic book Really, truly, fantastic.
Remember this book that I found? Well, I started it, but I’m not sure how I feel about it. It has great endorsements, but this jury is still out!
The Untapped Power of the Sacrament of Penance: A Priest’s View
Liturgical/Spiritual -
- Holy Hour on Wednesday from 3 to 4
- Controlling the tongue.
- Working on detachment!
- Offering up disappointments
My meditation for the Day (Week!) -
Galatians 5:16-25.
I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh. For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want. But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions, occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ (Jesus) have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit.

God bless you!!!!
