Happy Birthday, Part 2

Yesterday turned out to be a day that did not meet my expectations! It was very frustrating because I wanted things to be perfectly wonderful for my son’s birthday….. this was a “big” one, so I wanted it to be memorable. I suppose it was, but not how I hoped it would be.

We were going to go out shopping all together to find something he’d enjoy for his birthday, but the baby took an early nap. Then I remember that my son had committed to picking up the remains of a friend’s dog who had been euthanized on Saturday. He promised to take the remains to the doggy crematorium for our friends as this was a difficult task for them. When he made the promise, he was not thinking, “Monday is my birthday and this is how I want to spend it.” He saw their need and offered to help and he kept his word.

After completing this task, his friend took him for a steak for lunch to celebrate his birthday. I needed to go shopping. I needed to get things for the cheesecake I promised him. I needed to make sure I had everything I needed for pizza. The next thing I knew the day had disappeared and I had come home without cream cheese! That’s a slightly important ingredient for cheesecake! UGH. The day flew by and I had not gotten the dough started yet. It was getting pretty late in the day. Birthday boy decided that he’d like tacos as much as pizza as long as I got to the pizza the next day (today.)

So on the agenda today, register the Prizm, pop into the commissary to get some more pizza sauce, make the dough and the cheesecake EARLY in the day. And get caught up with these dern chores!!!! Later today, birthday boy will have at least one friend join us for his originally chosen birthday meal. Hopefully this will be a better day for him than yesterday. I’m sad it wasn’t better for him, but he did not complain at all.

I meant to share his birth stats yesterday, just because:

Born at 42 weeks,
4:05 am
in New Jersey
9lbs 8 ounces,
20 1/2 inches long
Absolutely perfect, beautiful baby boy!

*sigh* They really do grow up soooo fast.
